Riff Raff Road Studio began as a small creative space on McCoy Road, surrounded by whenua that has shaped two generations of makers, growers, and storytellers.
Founded by artist and kairaranga Hannah Irakau Pehi, the studio grew from a desire to weave together multiple creative disciplines — muka, sculptural forms, illustration, storytelling, and taonga tuku iho — into one living, breathing creative ecosystem.
Today, Riff Raff Road Studio stands as a kaupapa Māori creative house committed to relational practice, indigenous storytelling, and the nurturing of future artists.
Weaving and fibre-based taonga
Sculptural works (natural and industrial materials)
Illustration and painting
Creative writing and storytelling
Community engagement and kaupapa-driven projects
Riff Raff Road Studio will grow into a collective space where indigenous artists can create, collaborate, and sell their works through shared digital platforms, market networks, and storytelling channels.
